Has Virginia Beach gone mad?
One million dollars to make a few miles of Shore Drive inside Seashore State Park safer for drunken and inattentive drivers (MetroNews, Dec. 20).
We are going to cut down 345 trees. Where are the environmental concerns for a state park?
Rather than re-engineer Shore Drive with guard rails, bumpers and rumble strips fit for Grand Prix racing, lets put the $1 million into education.
Last time I reviewed the school budget, it was some $10 million short. Has our City Council forgotten about this? Perhaps the $1 million could be used in the school budget for more driver education rather than desecrating a state park.
