FALSE ALARM INFORMATION REVISED, CITY OFFICIALS SAY

SUFFOLK - City officials have issued revised information on the false alarm ordinance, which took effect Jan. 1.

Each alarm system user must register with the appropriate department by Jan. 31. There is no charge to the user, as earlier reported, according to Dana C. Brown, the city's public information officer.

Fire alarm user registration forms are available at the Fire Department at 400 Market Street. Burglar alarm user registration forms are available at the Police Department at 441 Market Street.

Alarm system companies which conduct business in the city must obtain a $30 permit from the police or fire department, Brown said in an updated statement.

Service fees may be assessed by the Fire and Police departments for false alarms, according to the fee structures reported earlier.
