Rebecca Thornton Ingling, 82, died Jan. 6, 1996, in her residence.
Mrs. Ingling was born in Republican Grove, Va., the daughter of the late Richard Presley Thornton M.D. and Lena Jordan Thornton. She was the widow of Capt. Francis Walford Ingling. She was a member of Eastern Shore Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach, and also a member of the Retired Officers' Wives' Society, the Great Neck Garden Club, and was a volunteer with Lee's Friends and Camelot Nursing. Mrs. Ingling was a graduate of the Jefferson Medical College, School of Nursing, class of 1936.
Survivors include one daughter, Betsy I. Spencer of Granville, Ohio; two sons, Douglas C. Ingling of Fairfax, Va., and Richard T. Ingling of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren, Rebecca S. Marshall, Anne Spencer, Kelly Wallace, Amy Garrity, Kristen Ingling, Meredyth Ingling, Jay Buchanan and Brad Buchanan; and two great-grandchildren.
A church service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 1996, in Eastern Shore Episcopal Church by the Rev. Andrew MacBeth. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1996, at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Lee's Friends, 618 Stockley Gardens, Norfolk, Va. 23507 or Eastern Shore Episcopal Church, 2020 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23454 or Meals on Wheels, 3750 Sentara Way, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452.
