Louise Block, 89, of the 600 block of Jefferson St., died Jan. 4, 1996, in Sentara Nursing Center, Portsmouth.
She was the widow of Robert Block and a member of Bethany Cathedral Church of God in Christ, Suffolk. She was a native of Portsmouth.
Survivors include a daughter, Ernestine Block of Portsmouth; three sons, William Gordon of Chesapeake, Robert Block of Norfolk and Willie Block of Portsmouth; one sister, Ella Garrett of Portsmouth; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Garden of Prayer (NU)4 COGIC, Portsmouth, by Elder Samuel Moore and the Rev. Maurice Johnson Jr. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Monday. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Ernestine Block, 400 Phillips Ave., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
