Alvin Bernard Stackhouse, 66, of the 700 block of Centerville Turnpike, died Jan. 7, 1996, in Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
He was a retired chief petty officer for the U.S. Navy, in which he had served for 22 years. He had retired in 1968. He had also been employed with Ecolochem Inc. as a water treatment technician. He was a native of Monticello, Maine, and was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Chesapeake. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Nancy Stackhouse; two daughters, Theresa L. Hawk of Bristol, Tenn., and Catherine Y. Mills of Virginia Beach; five sons, Larry C. Stackhouse of Virginia Beach, Delbert M. Stackhouse and Clay A. Stackhouse, both of Chesapeake, Andrew S. Stackhouse and Matthew J. Stackhouse, both of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Helen Beckler of Livermore Falls, Maine; a brother, Archie Stackhouse of Pittsfield, Maine; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Christian J. Haydinger in Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A Christian wake will be held at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, today at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service until 9 p.m. and at the residence at all other times. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
