Beve Root, 75, of the 5400 block of Jo Ann Drive, died Jan. 6, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a sheetmetal worker for shop (NU)17 at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Sweethaven Baptist Church. He was a native of Manchester, Ky., and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Miniard Root; three daughters, Laura A. Johnson of Portsmouth, Micki W. Davidson of Chesapeake, and Neena Root; two grandchildren, Brandon and Rebecca; a sister, Nannie Wagers of Girdler, Ky.; two brothers, George Root and Fount Root of Barboursville, Ky.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today by the Rev. Lew Hunter and the Rev. Damon E. Wyatt in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
