Mary Dell Slocumb, 89, formerly of the 7300 block of Major Ave., died Jan. 5, 1996, in North Carolina.
Mrs. Slocumb was a native of Buncombe County, N.C., and lived in Norfolk for more than 40 years. She was the widow of Travis Hugh Slocumb. She was a former member of Zion Grace United Methodist Church in Norfolk. She was formerly a bookkeeper with the Enka Corp.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Slocumb-Crowe-Knox of Athens, Ga.; a son, Steve M. Slocumb of Leicester, N.C.; a sister, Annie D. Parham of Leicester, N.C.; a brother, Paul Sluder of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Josh and Travis Slocumb, Thad and Lisa Crowe, Stephanie Leydig; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Forest Lawn Cemetery by Dr. Paul B. Wat-ling-ton Jr. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
