Dare County Schools have continued their top five statewide ranking in student achievement according to the 1995 State Report Card.
Superintendent Leon Holleman said the schools received a No. 1 ranking in end-of-course advanced elective math, showing 77 percent of students proficient. This is the first year Dare County Schools has ranked No. 1, though they have often ranked No. 2.
Other outstanding local performance came in lower-grade reading and math. In both areas for grades 3-8, the local school system ranked fourth statewide. And in the high school area for end-of-course core subjects, Dare County ranked fifth in the state.
``This is another outstanding report card,'' said Holleman. The math score is absolutely outstanding. Obviously, you can't do better than No. 1.'' by CNB
