WALTER C. JOHNSON JR.

Retired U.S. Navy Chief Walter Charles Johnson Jr., of the 9500 block of 29th Bay St., died Jan. 7, 1996, in Hampton Veterans Hospital.

Mr. Johnson, a retired X-ray technician, was a native of Grenda, Miss. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include five daughters, Cathy Day of Oakland, Calif., Rose Harris of San Landro, Calif., Tamika Lewis of Jacksonville, N.C., Tika Mayo of Norfolk, Tangie Moore of Haywood, Calif.; three sons, Michael Johnson of Oakland, Harold Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., and James Johnson of Haywood, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Carlos A. Howard Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Anthony Moses. The remains will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. today. The family will gather at the chapel at 2:45 p.m. Thursday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
