Janet Carmichael van Wolkenten, 85, of the 600 block of Pembroke Ave., died on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
She was born in Michigan and was the widow of Capt. Raymond V. van Wolkenten Sr., U.S. Navy retired.
Survivors include a daughter, Jaymes H. Turnbull of Krakow, Poland; a son, Raymond V. van Wolkenten Jr., M.D., of Norfolk; a sister, Harriet C. Burke of Ventura, Calif.; a brother, Hyle Carmichael of Romulus, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Virginia Medical School Foundation, P.O. Box 5, Norfolk, Va. 23501. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
