JOSEPH C. BROWN

Joseph C. Brown, 71, of the 3800 block of Harvest Court, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1996, in a Portsmouth nursing home.

Mr. Brown was born in Bertie County, N.C., and was the son of Reva M. Terry MacDougall of Chesapeake and the late Joseph Brown. He was a retired self-employed plumber and electrician. He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma J. Moore Brown; daughter, Linda Jean Venery of Portsmouth; four sons, Jerry H. Brown and Joseph L. Brown, both of Portsmouth, Robert Brown of Smithfield, Va., and Danny H. Brown of Moyock, N.C.; brother, Willie E. Brown of Elizabethton, Tenn.; two half-brothers, Leslie M. MacDougall and Paul MacDougall, both of Virginia Beach; his adopted sister, Alma Hill of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. J.W. Wetherington. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be private.
