EARL V. WILLIAMS

Earl Venton Williams, 70, born Jan. 1, 1926, of the 12000 block of Greystone Terrace, N.W., died Jan. 6, 1996, in Laurel, Md.

Mr. Williams, a native of Leslie, W.Va., worked 33 years for the Federal Government. He retired in 1974 from F.A.A. in Oklahoma City. He served as president of Hodges Manor Civic League and at Pinecrest Baptist Church serving as assistant Sunday school superintendent from 1958 to 1959. He had been a member of Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City for 27 years. He was a member of NARF and AARP. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He married Edith Marie Outten on June 15, 1946 in Cradock Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 49 and a half years, Edith O. Williams of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Erlene W. Sheldon of Beltsville, Md., Linda W. Ray of Plainview, Texas; two sons, Carl V. Williams of Purcellville, Va., C. Bruce Williams of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Ray Williams of Suffolk, Charles Lee Williams of Charlottesville, Va.; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four nieces; a nephew; aunt, Martha C. Moore of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; an uncle, Clarence Carroll of Rainelle, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles David and Virginia Carroll Williams.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Cradock Baptist Church by Dr. David Denny. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will be at the Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and other times at 99 Gillis Road, Portsmouth.
