Truda Jones Johnston, 97, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1996, in Newport News Baptist Retirement Community. A native of Eula, Ark., she had been a Portsmouth resident most of her life.
Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by her husband, Dover J. Johnston Sr. and her son, George Edwin Johnston. She is survived by her son, Dover J. Johnston Jr. of Powhatan, Va.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
