Linwood O. B. Branch, Jr., of 1000 Atlantic Ave., died Jan. 8, 1996, peacefully at his home in Virginia Beach. He was born in Norfolk on Sept. 6, 1923, the son of the late Linwood O.B. Branch Sr. He attended Maury High School and graduated from the Naval Academy in 1945, of the class of 1946. Lin Branch left the Navy as a lieutenant in 1954 having served in both World War II and the Korean War. He founded Water Works Supply in Richmond where he worked until his retirement early this year.
Mr. Branch was a lifetime member of AWWA and a son of the American Revolution. Lin Branch also owned and operated the South Shore Resort Inn (formerly the Lynn-Dee Motel) in Virginia Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia M. Branch of Virginia Beach; a daughter and two sons, Jackie Branch McAfee of Ellicott City, Md., Councilman Linwood O.B. Branch III and Larry Branch both of Virginia Beach; his mother, Iris G. Branch of Virginia Beach; a brother Capt. A.D. Branch of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren Thomas P., Patrick B., John Parker Blake, Weston S. McAfee and Christopher Bradford Branch.
A chapel service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday Jan. 11, 1996 at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel by Father Edward L. Richardson. Burial will be at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends today in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad P.O. Box 945 Virginia Beach, Va. 23451. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel is handling arrangements.
