ROBERT J. SMITH

Robert J. Smith, 81, of 1012 Avenue E, died Jan. 6, 1996, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Hampton.

He was a native of Norfolk County and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Smith served in World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4. He was a member of Oakwood Chapel Church of Christ Disciples of Christ.

HE was the son of the late Robert and Lucy Smith. He is survived by four devoted brothers, Herbert Smith Sr., Albert Smith Sr., William Smith, all of Norfolk, and Frederick Smith of Virginia Beach; two devoted sisters, Mary Smith and Fannie Spratley of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 11, 1996, at noon, by the Rev. C.N. White in Oakwood Chapel. The remains will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Thursday morning. The family will assemble at the residence. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
