SONIA E. DUNBAR

Sonia E. Dunbar, 71, of 2124 Wake Forest St., died Jan. 6, 1996, in Newton, Mass.

In her early married life, she enjoyed being a mother, wife and at home with her girls. In 1963, she entered the cosmetic field and later was the founder and owner of Suni Enterprises Inc., a personal skin care and cosmetic service. Suni was the subject of several news articles, including a March 13, 1977, article in The Virginian-Pilot entitled, ``Suni's Special Style Comes from Within.''

Earlier in her life, she did a weekly radio talk show dealing with fashion. One of the joys of her life was her art work. She developed an impression-istic style in acrylic paintings, some of which hang in the Virginia Beach Hospital and several private collections.

Survivors include her husband, John Dunbar; three daughters, Diane Blanton of Centerport, N.Y., Tricia Johnson of Newton, Mass., Petey Burnett of Longwood, Fla.; a sister, Phyllis Serody; a brother, Stanley Lapidus of Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Cort Blanton, Matt Sfara, Josh Sfara, Pete Burnett, Sarah Burnett; and a great-grandchild, Cortney Blanton.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Virginia Beach Christian Church, 2225 Rose Hall Drive, Virginia Beach, on Sunday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support a camping experience for children with cancer: the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Fund, 555 Long Wharf Drive, attention: Mari Aprel, New Haven, CT. 06511.
