Alline Cevene Brown, 76, of the 900 block of Avenue I, died Jan. 7, 1996, in her residence. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.
She was a native of Roxboro, N.C., though she lived most of her life in Norfolk. She was a dedicated Christian. Alline Brown was the widow of Emanuel Brown Sr., who passed away in 1981. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Norfolk.
She is survived by two daughters, Antoinette L. Brown of Norfolk and Linda Guerrero of Denver, Colo.; five sons, Vernon Barnette of Bridgeport, Conn., Emanuel Brown Jr. of Norfolk, Kenneth E. Brown of Virginia Beach, R. Eugene Brown of Norfolk, and Leonard Brown of Windsor, Va.; a sister, Bernice Suite of Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Randolph Barnette of Roxboro, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Elder Ronald Johnson in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3662 Humboldt St., Norfolk. The body will be cremated. There will be a wake on Friday at the home of Louise Epps and Sarah Riddick, 7530 Merritt St., from 6 to 7 p.m. Family and relatives will assemble at 7530 Merritt St., Norfolk, at 1:15 p.m. Saturday for the procession.
