Delton R. ``Bake'' Stallings, 72, of 720 Gaston Drive, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 10, 1996, in Chowan Hospital.
A native of Perquimans County, he was the son of the late Joseph Herbert Stallings and Alethia Rountree Stallings. He retired from Pyrofax Gas Company and later was a maintenance worker with Perquimans County Government. He was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church, was a charter member of the Perquimans County Volunteer Rescue Squad, and was a member of American Legion Post (NU)126. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Rae Symons Stallings; daughter, Lydia S. Perry of Herford; four sons, Wayne Stallings of Durham, Donald Stallings of Rockwood, Tenn., Billy Stallings of Elizabeth City, and Danny Stallings of Herford; three sisters, Audrey Cross of Suffolk, and Helene Wiggins and Joyce Overman, both of Hobbsville; five brothers, J.H. Stallings, Dewey Stallings, Rountree Stallings and Claxton Stallings, all of Belvidere, and Ray Stallings of Hobbsville; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Cedar Wood Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Vaughan and the Rev. Joh Strother officiating. Donations may be made to Perquimans County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 191, Hertford, N.C. 27944, or the Perquimans County Youth League, c/o Russell Lassiter, Route 1, Belvidere, N.C. 27919. Swindell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
