Virginia Dare Brown, of the 100 block of Bay Ridge Court, died Jan. 8, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Mrs. Brown, a native of Hertford County, N.C., was a member of New Life Mission, Virginia Beach. She was retired from the Virginia Beach School Board.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Earl Brown Jr.; two daughters, Juanita Simpson and Sharon Calhoun, both of Virginia Beach; two sons, Charles E. Skinner of Lawton, Okla., Kelly R. Jones Jr. of Newport News; three sisters, Carrie Brothers and Rosie Lilly, both of Hertford, Edna Woodard of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Ulysses Skinner and Henry Skinner, both of Hertford; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Gary K. Calhoun of Virginia Beach.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Rehoboth Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, by Bishop Asberry James. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be ready for viewing at 3:30 p.m. today. The family will assemble at the residence at 10 a.m. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge.
