Robert Earl Cherry, 65, of 1508 West Queen St., died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 1996, in the Chowan Hospital.
A native of Bertie County, Mr. Cherry was a son of the late Hunter and Evy Jernigan Cherry and the husband of Kay White Cherry. Mr. Cherry was the former owner of Cherry's Welding Inc., and a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
Surviving other than his wife are his daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Brad May of Edenton; two sons and their wives, Johnny and Pam Perry, and Alan and Judy Perry, both of Edenton; sister, Doris Ayers of Ahoskie; brother, Carlton Cherry of Chocowinity, N.C.; five grandchildren, Richard and Jennie Perry of New Madrid, Miss., Amber and Brandon Perry of Edenton, Allison May of Edenton; four step grandchildren, Joey and Stacey Byrum of Edenton and Lauren and Gabe May of Ahoskie.
Funeral serivces will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Macedonia Baptist Church by the Revs. Bob Young and Gordan Shaw. Burial will follow in the Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the residence. Memorials may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 1004 Macedonia Road, Edenton, N.C. 27932. The Evans Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
