NASA INTERNSHIP KEY IN MORGAN'S LIFE

WITH HIS EYES on the ball, Tim Morgan concentrates on victory.

Each weekday Norfolk State University students can find Tim, 19, playing pool in the Mills E. Godwin Student Union.

``Pool allows me to compete with myself as well as others,'' said Tim. ``I enjoy it because it is relaxing and allows me to concentrate on something other than my education.''

Tim maintains a 3.504 grade-point average and is in one of the most prestigious honor societies on campus, DNIMAS, or Dortez National Institute for Minorities in Applied Sciences.

``Education is an opportunity to make it in a world where people are judged by their intellect as well as their personality,'' said Tim. ``Succeeding in education is halfway being successful in life, the other half is putting education to good use.''

This summer, Tim's father, Edward Morgan, died. Despite the heartache, Tim has continued to pursue his goals.

``I love my dad, he was always concerned with my education and health,'' said Tim. ``He always provided me with everything I needed to succeed.''

Tim is determined not to let his father down.

When I don't have anything else to do, I'm . . . lying in bed and watching TV.

Best date I've had: Going to dinner and a club.

And the worst? I went out with a girl and didn't want to go. But I was pressured by my friend and had a horrible time. I was back in an hour!

If I could change one thing about me I . . . would change my need to compete! I am overly competitive.

The best place for mouth-watering chow is: Applebee's.

My best job: This summer I worked as an intern at NASA Langley Research Center as a member of the Langley Aerospace Research program. I worked as an assistant computer programmer.

And the worst? I've never had a bad work experience.

I can easily brag about . . . taking advantage of the opportunities given to me.
