NORFOLK - Ernest Linwood Jordan Jr., 69, of the 2700 block of Chesterfield Blvd. died Jan. 8, 1996.
He was a retired mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service, where he had worked for 35 years. He had been retired for 10 years. He was a native of Norfolk and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Marion A. Jordan of Norfolk; four daughters, Frances Brown, Evelyn Pollard, Ernestine Overton and Devonne Spruill; sister, Thersea Copeland; brother, Ervin Jordan; grandchildren, Vincent Jordan, Nathan Jordan, Jamila Jordan, Roger Jordan, Lorraine Brown, and Shena Jordan; and a great-grandson, Vincent Lamb. He was predeceased by his parents, Leila Jordan and Ernest L. Jordan Sr.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Willie McNair in Mt. Zion Community Church, 2345 Indian River Road, Norfolk. The body will be placed in the church on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The family and friends will assemble in the home on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
