WILLIAM O. CHANDLER

William Outland Chandler, 39, of the 1000 block of Woodrow Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 1996, in his residence after a lifelong struggle with disabilities.

He was born in Norfolk on Jan. 10, 1957. He attended Norfolk's Larchmont Elementary School, The Grafton School in Berryville, Va., and Wordsworth Academy in Philadelphia, Pa. He graduated from Maury High School and attended Tidewater Community College for one year.

Mr. Chandler was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where he took part in the N.E.S.T. program and Habitat for Humanity projects. He was active in the Epilepsy Association of Virginia and the Tidewater Adult Epilepsy Support Network. He was instrumental in establishing an epilepsy hotline in Hampton Roads, and in funding a full-time office for the local association. He enjoyed the support of many friends and relatives for these endeavors.

He is survived by his parents, Nancy and Webster Chandler; a sister, Nancy Deal Chandler of Oak Brook, Ill.; and two brothers, Webster M. Chandler III, and his wife, Lisa, and their daughters, Whitney and Brynn, all of Norfolk, and Lt. Cmdr. John M. Chandler, U.S. Navy, of Ingleside, Texas; two uncles, Grover C. Outland Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Norfolk, and Richard D. Chandler and his wife, Bette, of Richmond; an aunt, Louise Outland Smith; and numerous cousins.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 1996, in the Church of the Good Shepherd by the Rev. Father Ross Wright and the Rev. Father John Eidam. Burial will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be sent to the Epilepsy Association of Virginia, Box BRH, University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va. 22908, or to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 1520 North Shore Road, Norfolk 23505. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
