PERCELL ARTIS SR.

Percell Artis Sr., of the 800 block of Main Creek Road, died Jan. 8, 1996, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mr. Artis, a native of Boykins, Va., was a quarterman at the Naval Base. He was a member of New Discipleship Church, where he was a deacon board member. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille L. Artis; a son, Percell Artis Jr. of Lexington, Va.; four sisters, Alberta Artis of Virginia Beach, Elonria Artis, Cleo Jackson and Juanita Artis, all of New York; four brothers, Roger W. Artis of Portsmouth, Earl Artis of Smithfield, James Artis of Newport News, Douglas Artis of New York.; a grandson, Justin Artis of Lexington; a granddaughter, Shwana Mercer of Chesapeake; and daughter-in-law, Regina Artis of Lexington.

The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in New Discipleship Church by Bishop Anthony Moses. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Monday. Interment will be private. The remains will be ready at 3 p.m. Saturday. The family will assemble at the residence at 11:30 a.m. Sunday for the procession. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge.
