A Portsmouth teenager was injured when a car jumped the curb and struck her as she stood on the sidewalk with a group of other children outside a church Wednesday night.
The accident happened about 10:23 p.m. in the 100 block of Beech Street.
Carisa White, 14, of the 1200 block of Turnpike Road was in stable condition in Sentara-Norfolk General Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said Thursday afternoon.
The driver, Tokie M. Biggs, 36, of the 200 block of Prospect Road, was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving.
White was pinned under Biggs' 1983 Oldsmobile when police arrived, said Mike Simpkins, police spokesman.
