ON THE MOVE: BROOKS SPEAKS AT SEMINAR THIS MONTH

The Tidewater Association of Realtors is sponsoring a three-hour seminar, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 27 in the Cape Charles Room of the Lake Wright Hotel in Norfolk.

The event will feature Teresa A. Brooks, a national speaker and trainer, who will discuss ``Real Estate Investing in the '90s.'' The charge for the seminar is $25 for Realtors and clients, $35 for non-members.

In charge: Leading Edge Realty has been selected by Donald L. Moore Building Corp. to market Haygood Estates, its new all-brick condominium community in Virginia Beach. Ann Gelardi of Long & Foster Realtors is site manager for The Villas at Scottsfield in Suffolk, a project by Terry-Peterson Residential.

Rose & Krueth Realty Corp. is marketing Hillside Landing in Chesapeake, Hearndon Construction Corp.'s two-story, single-family subdivision. The firm is also in charge of the River Walk homes built by Sadler Building Co. River Walk in also in Chesapeake as well as Courthouse Woods in Virginia Beach, a subdivision by Terry/Peterson Residential.

Daniel P. Hassett has been appointed project manager for Hourigan Martone Construction Corp. of Virginia Beach.

Gov. George Allen and Lt. Gov. Donald Beyer will both address the Legislative and Education Conference of the Virginia Association of Realtors next week in Richmond's Omni Hotel. Allen will speak at the RPAC Awards luncheon on Friday; Beyer will appear at a breakfast with the General Assembly earlier that day.

Leadership: Ron C. Ripley of Ripley-Wright Realtors was recently installed as president of the Tidewater Association of Realtors. Joann Belote of Coldwell Banker/Gifford, is president-elect; Gary Crawford of Re/Max Alliance, vice president for member services; Ann A. Swearingen, GSH Property Management, vice president for finance, and Sandy Haines, GRI Realty Consultants, vice president for public affairs.

Jerry Katzmann of Long & Foster and Steve Craig of Re/Max Central were elected to the board of directors. Barbara Spillane of GSH Real Estate was recognized as Committee Chairman of the Year. Receiving the President's Award for Outstanding Service were Alan Thompson of Rose & Krueth, Remona Murmillo of W.E. Wood Property Management and Mel Paker of ERA Atkinson.

Al Carmichael of Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate is the new president of the Commercial Real Estate Council and Commercial Multiple Listing Service of Hampton Roads. Clay Culbreth of Old Dominion Commercial Real Estate is president-elect and Jack Haworth of Haworth Realty is secretary-treasurer.

Honored: Lindy Anderson of Century 21 First Colony was named Realtor of the Year for 1995 by the newly organized Hampton Roads Realtors Association. Ann Doug Smith, of William E. Wood & Associates in Churchland, won the Outstanding Service Award, and Joyce Strickland of Cenit Bank is the Affiliate of the Year.

Gary Crumpler of Area Realty and Jo Ann Wood of William E. Wood received the Code of Ethics Award.

Shirley Schulwolf of Coldwell Banker/Gifford was given the 1995 Realtor Code of Ethics Award by the Tidewater Association of Realtors; Terrie Suit of Mid Atlantic Financial was recognized as Affiliate of the Year.

Dan Godfrey, broker/owner of Realty World-Godfrey Enterprises in Virginia Beach, has been included in the 1996 Who's Who in Residential Real Estate in North America.

Kudos: The Virginia Beach Planning Commission has awarded Richard Foster of Baymark Construction the 1995 Design Award for his work on the Courthouse Estates subdivision. Particularly cited were the entrance landscaping and the accessway to North Landing Elementary School.

Moore's Lumber and Building Supplies was named 1995 Associate of the Year by the Virginia Home Builders Association.

The Tidewater Builders Association recently cited several companies and individuals. Nansemond Heating & Cooling was named Rookie Member of the Year; Scott Gandy of Kempsville Building Materials, Associate Member of the Year, and Andy Broyles of Broyles Construction, Member of the Year.

Four agents for Rose & Krueth have been named to boards and professional organizations: Alan Thompson, vice president of the Resale Division, is vice chairman of the Communications and Technology Advocacy Group and vice moderator for the MLS and Technology Forum for the Virginia Association of Realtors; Rich Biege of the Peninsula Office was elected to the VAR's Policy Board; Jim Rose, CEO, will serve on the board of the Tidewater Association of Realtors, and Marsha Linkous, managing broker of the Peninsula office, will be on the board of the Virginia Peninsula Association of Realtors.

Gary Werner, managing partner of The Franciscus Co., has been appointed to the 2-10 Home Buyers Waranty Builders Advisory Committee.

Promotions: Terri Stickle, former publisher of the ``Hampton Roads Newcomers Guide,'' has been named director of corporate relocation for Rose & Krueth Realty.

Charity: The Commercial Real Estate Council recently presented a check for $8,000 to the Old Dominion University Real Estate Center. The money will benefit the Lori Kaplan Scholarship fund.

Big deals: HFS Inc., which acquired Century 21 Real Estate Corp. last year, has agreed to buy Electronic Realty Associates (ERA Real Estate). HFS will operate the companies separately.

The Prudential Decker Realty and Area Realty have merged with the new name being The Prudential Decker Realty. The move gives Prudential a presence in the Chesapeake-Suffolk market. The new company will continue to operate out of the Area Realty office at 4016 Raintree Road, Chesapeake, across from Chesapeake Square Mall. Nancy Foster will be the office manager.

Get ready: The 1996 Homearama will be staged Oct. 5-20 at South Shore Estates in Virginia Beach, off General Booth Boulevard. Lakeside Construction Co. is the developer. The Tidewater Builders Association is seeking a builder for the Charity House. The sale of the dwelling wil benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hampton Roads.
