Walter Thomas Liebig, 74, died Jan. 11, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Liebig was born in Kansas City, Mo., and was a retired chief petty officer for the U.S. Navy after 20 years. He was also retired from the civil service after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch (NU)60 and the American Legion Post 141 in Richmond. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was predeceased by a son, John Edgar O'Connor.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly June Liebig; two grandchildren, Johnny O'Connor Jr. of Williamsburg and Susan Perry of Virginia Beach; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda O'Connor and Lillia O'Connor.
A memorial graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. by Father Lou Ruoff in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Norfolk SPCA.
