Hyman Axelrod, 90, of the 900 block of Armfield Circle, a retired Merchant and Co-owner of Buddys Naval Wear, Norfolk, where he worked from 1950 to 1975, died Jan. 11, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Axelrod was a native of New York City. He was a member of Temple Israel in Norfolk, Jewish Family Services, The Brith Sholom, and he was a life member of the Supreme Lodge of the Knight of Pythias, 659, New York.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Freda Goolst Axelrod of Norfolk; a daughter, Iris Lasky of Norfolk; a sister, Ruth Pollack of Virginia Beach; and three grandchildren, Brian, Ricky and Ellyn Lasky.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rabbi Michael E. Panitz and Cantor Yael Fischman. The family will receive friends at 958 Armfield Circle, 204, Norfolk. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Family Services or The Alzheimer's Association of Hampton Roads. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, will be handling the arrangements.
