William Holland ``Mach'' Cutchin, 82, of 1401 N. High St., died Jan. 11, 1996, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Cutchin was a native of Isle of Wight County and was the son of the late Braxton and Mary Cutchin. He was a former extension agent for Southampton County Extension Service and had retired from farming. Mr. Cutchin was a longtime member of Franklin Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir, church clerk for many years, former deacon and Sunday school teacher, and member of the church's Bruner Bible Class. Mr. Cutchin was a 1937 graduate of N.C. State University.
Survivors include his wife, Meta Johnson Cutchin; step son, Larry Johnson and his wife, the Rev. Georgianna Johnson; brother, Braxton Murray Cuthcin Jr. of Easley, S.C.; three step grandchildren, Holly J. Luther and her husband, Bob of Elizabeth City, N.C., Amy J. Ashley and John L. Johnson III, both of Greenville, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special niece, Dunreath Jefferson of Dagsboro, Del.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Franklin Baptist Church by Dr. Ray DeBrand, the Rev. Sharon James, and Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. The burial will be at Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Village at Woods Edge from 7 to 8 p.m. today and suggest that memorials be made to the Franklin Baptist Church, Franklin Rescue Squad, or a favorite charity. Wright Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
