Mrs. Bernice T. Taylor, 67, of 3136 Carolina Road, died Jan. 12, 1996, in Obici Hospital.
She was a native of Estill, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Soloman Burison and Essie Wright Burison. She was a food service manager at Norfolk State University, Norfolk, and she was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Suffolk. She was a 1982 graduate of Norfolk State University. She retired in 1992 as manager of the food service department at Norfolk State University.
Her survivors include her husband, Mr. Otis Taylor Jr. of Suffolk; three daughters, Lynda Gray of New York, Mrs. Lula Williams of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Alyce Barnes of Hampton; son, Jerome Williams of Suffolk; two aunts, Mrs. Jenny Epps of South Carolina, Mrs. Rose Beckett of Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Felicia A. Gray of London, Dwyania Williams of Suffolk, Curtiss Barnes of Hampton, Marcus Williams of Suffolk, Andrew Barnes of Hampton; several cousins; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Cora Williams of Suffolk; and son-in-law, Mr. Fred Barnes of Hampton.
A funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Metropolitan Baptist Church, by Dr. Melvin R. Boone. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, donations will be made to the Bernice T. Burison Taylor Scholarship Fund, 25 Central Park, West Suite 20-H, New York, 10023. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge.
