Rebecca Thornton Ingling, 82, of Virginia Beach, died January 6, 1996, in her residence.
Mrs. Ingling was a native of Republican Grove, Va., and daughter of the late Richard Presley Thornton M.D. and Lena Jordan Thornton. She was the widow of Capt. Francis Walford Ingling. She was a member of Eastern Shore Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach. She was also a member of the Retired Officer Wives Society, the Great Neck Garden Club, and was a volunteer with Lee's Friends and Camelot Nursing. Mrs. Ingling was a graduate of the Jefferson Medical College, School of Nursing, class of 1936.
Survivors include a daughter, Betsy I. Spencer of Granville, Ohio; two sons, Douglas C. Ingling of Fairfax, Va., Richard T. Ingling of Dallas; eight grandchildren, Rebecca S. Marshall, Anne Spencer, Kelly Wallace, Amy Garrity, Kristen Ingling, Meredyth Ingling, Jay Buchanan and Brad Buchanan; and two great-grandchildren.
A burial service will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1996, at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Lee's Friends, 618 Stockley Gardens, Norfolk, Va. 23507 or the Eastern Shore Episcopal Church, 2020 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23454, or Meals on Wheels, 3750 Sentara Way, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452.
