LeMoyne W. Layton Sr., 77, of the 500 block of Burleigh Ave., died Jan. 11, 1996, in a local hospital.
Mr. Layton was a native of Butler, Pa. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II at Saipan where he earned the Purple Heart. He was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk and was a former member the Mason's Lodge. He worked as a Patrol Director for the U.S. Customs Agency under the Treasury Department.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Layton of Norfolk; a daughter, Anatta of Boulder, Colo.; a son, LeMoyne W. Layton Jr. of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Lois Marie Layton of Saxonburg, Pa.; two brothers, Shirl W. Layton of Butler, Pa., Porter W. Layton of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A church service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church by the Rev. James Sell. Burial will be private. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk.
