JOHN J. ALLEN

John Joseph Allen, 64, died Jan. 12, 1996, in Virginia Beach.

Mr. Allen was born in New York City and had retired as a painter from Norshipco. He was a Catholic and a member of the VFW. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a part of the Red Ball Express in Lebanon.

He is survived by his former wife, Dolores Ann Blanchard of Norfolk; a daughter, Patricia Jean Allen of Norfolk; three sons, John Richard Allen of Orlando, Fla., Michael J. Allen of Williamsburg and Christopher B. Allen of Clermont, Fla.; four sisters, Jessica Murch of Norfolk, Patricia Brandt and Joanne McFadden, both of New York, and Jean Aran of Miami; three grandchildren, John Allen III of Bay City, Mich., Leland Thomas Allen of Virginia Beach and Erin Nicole Allen of Norfolk; two great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

A Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Lou Ruoff officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at the church. They will also assemble at the church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. for prayers and procession to the cemetery. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel is in charge. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

His life was an inspiration, his memory a benediction.
