Joe Pecsek, 78, of the 6000 block of Crags Causeway, died Friday, Jan. 12, 1996, at Chesapeake General Hospital.
Mr. Pecsek was a retired farmer and a member of the Virginia Farm Bureau, co-founder and member of the Blackwater Volunteer Rescue Squad, and a veteran of World War II, serving in Africa and Italy in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Pecsek was the son of the late Frank Pecsek and Theresa Hydinger Pecsek, and widowed by Elizabeth King Pecsek. He is survived by two daughters, Theresa Elizabeth Pecsek and Stephanie Highsmith, both of Virginia Beach; two sons, Joe Michael Pecsek of Corapeake, N.C., and Frank Louis Pecsek of Virginia Beach; a sister, Anna Shuagis of Rayland, Ohio; three brothers, Frank Pecsek and Johnny Pecsek, both of Chesapeake, and George Pecsek of Gibbswoods, N.C.; five grandchildren, Joe Michael Pecsek Jr. of Corapeake, N.C., Susan Highsmith, Frank Louis Pecsek Jr., Jamie Pecsek and Kelsey Pecsek, all of Virginia Beach; and eight step-grandchildren.
A church service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ralph Horn at Blackwater Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening at Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, Chesapeake. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Blackwater Volunteer Rescue Squad, 6009 Blackwater Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23457.
