STANDING FIRM ON THE BUDGET

Congress has my utmost respect and full support in its determined stand to balance the federal budget and make this nation fiscally responsible again after decades of deficit spending.

The Democratic Party, to which I used to belong, has betrayed me and thousands of others in its quest to make this country a socialist clone. Our forefathers abandoned their native lands to migrate to this free nation where they could create their own fortunes and destinies without the yoke of big government or tyrants ruling their lives and families.

The federal government shutdown is but a temporary result of one man's refusal to sign a bill to get things going again. I realize the standoff is a fundamental issue as to whether we are to continue on our present path to socialism and fiscal ruin or have the courage to turn things around and operate the government with some sense of sanity and fiscal responsibility.

I am fully aware that many citizens are greedy, lazy and expect the government to continue the free handouts and services paid for by their more-responsible neighbors. The problem is, now their neighbors are broke too. The entire country is up to its neck in debt. We're all living on future generations' earnings.
