REGINA BEARD

Regina E. Beard, 74, of the 400 block of Roosevelt Blvd., died Jan. 13, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.

Mrs. Beard was born in Portsmouth, Va., and was the widow of Welton Beard Sr. She was a retired mail clerk for Norfolk Naval Shipyard. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and former member of the Senior Choir. She was also a member of (NU)2 Female Usher Board, the Independent Order of Tents, was a past matron of the Brighton Light Order of Eastern Star (NU)118, was a former missionary and served on the Women's Day Committee for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Y. Sims; a son, Welton E. Beard Jr.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at noon by the Rev. J.B. Sharpe in Olive Branch Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Fisher Funeral Home in charge.
