Police arrested a Hampton man Sunday in the shooting death of 19-year-old Roderick Jerome Newby of Smithfield.
Police said Newby was found lying in a parking lot in the 1800 block of W. Mercury Blvd. about 1:05 a.m. Sunday.
He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, believed to have been fired from a semiautomatic handgun.
Police arrested Berace R. Bennett Jr., 19, in connection with the shooting.
