Howard Furman VanNoy, 86, of 92 Bolling Road, died Jan. 15, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a native of Willdell, W.Va., and was a retired riveter from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a Methodist and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Stella M. VanNoy; two daughters, Beatrice Jean Thibo of Bumpass, Va., and Sheila G. Wentworth; sister, Beatrice Simmons of Akron, Ohio; brother, Hubert VanNoy of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd., by the Rev. John Bright. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m.
