James Arthur Goeke, 40, of the 3500 block of Spence Road, died Jan. 15, 1996, in his residence.
Mr. Goeke was born in Richmond and was a nuclear engineer for Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He taught youth soccer and T-ball in the Churchland leagues.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary R. Goeke; a daughter, Elaine M. Goeke of Portsmouth; a son, Neal C. Goeke of Newport News, Va.; his parents, Theodore and Wilma Goeke of Topping, Va.; and a brother, Alan D. Goeke of Norfolk.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. by Chaplain Neal Sasser in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. His body was donated to medical science. Memorial donations may be made to the Maryview Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
