Monroe Lee Simmons, 85, of the 800 block of Post Ave., died Jan. 15, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mr. Simmons was born in Columbia, S.C., and was retired as an electric welder from Norfolk Shipbuilding. He was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge (NU)339 AF & AM and First Senior Citizens Club of Chesapeake.
Survivors include his wife, Emily M. Lawrence Simmons; two sisters, Reba Taylor of Elizabeth City and Martha Ansley of Tyner, N.C.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, by the Rev. Roger D. Mardis. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
