Elizabeth Barrett Benton, 93, of the 2600 block of St. Mihiel Ave., died Jan. 14, 1996, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Benton was a native of Norfolk. She was the widow of James R. Benton. Mrs. Benton was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk.
Survivors include a daughter, Louise B. Nance of Baton Rouge, La.; a son, Thomas Surles of Norfolk; a sister, Mary Gillikin of Savannah, Ga.; a brother, William T. Barrett of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m.. Thursday at Rosewood Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Irwin M. Lewis Jr.. There will be a visitation at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, on Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Onley and Stockley Gardens, Norfolk, Va. 23517.
