Mr. David George White Jr., 69, of Badham Road, died Monday, Jan. 15, 1996, in the Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A native of Chowan County, Mr. White was a son of the late David George and Sarah Marie Spruill White and the husband of Mary Gordy White. Mr. White was a retired plan manager for the Fisher Nut Company, a former city councilman, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion Post 40 where he was past commander. Mr. White had also retired form the Coast Guard Reserve as a Lt. Commander.
Surviving other than his wife, is his daughter and her husband, Sharon and Paul Ward of Hertford; one brother, and his wife, Earl and Shelby White of Edenton; sister-in-law, Evelyn White of Farmington, Conn.; grandson and his wife, Brian and Kristina Seay of Raleigh; granddaughter, Erika Ward of Hertford; two great-grandchildren, Brittney and Carter Seay of Raleigh; three nieces and their husbands, Terry and Bruce Hardison of Edenton, Carla and Tim Belch of Edenton, and JoAnn and Alan Needham of Simsbury, Conn. Mr. White was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Marvin White.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Evans Funeral Home by the Rev. Bob Young. Burial will follow in the Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
