BELL ATLANTIC HOPES TO FINALIZE LABOR AGREEMENT WITH UNION.

A Bell Atlantic Corp. spokesman said Monday that company executives hope to quickly finalize a labor agreement with the Communications Workers of America now that the phone company and the union have reached a tentative agreement covering wages, pensions and benefits for 34,400 workers. Terms of the tentative pact weren't disclosed. Bell Atlantic's Paul Miller said three separate sets of negotiations are now under way covering remaining ``local issues,'' including grievance procedures, travel and meal reimbursements. Bell Atlantic's unionized employees have been working without a contract since last August. (Staff) by CNB
