CAROLYN D. COPPEDGE

Carolyn Dixon Coppedge, 45, of the 1800 block of Lansing Ave., died Jan. 15, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.

She worked for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 12 years. She was a native of Portsmouth and a member of Holy Trinity Church (NU)1 where she was a member of the senior chorus and a Sunday school secretary. She was also assistant financial secretary of the church. She was a 1968 Graduate of I.C. Norcom High School and a 1972 Graduate of Norfolk State University.

She is survived by her mother, Queen E. Dixon of Portsmouth; father, Elder James W. Dixon of Portsmouth; seven sisters, Mary Ellis, Gloria J. Ingram, Shera Parker, all of Portsmouth, Col. (Ret.) Rev. Ernestine ``Tina'' Dixon-Bartlett of Sun Valley, Las Vegas, Brenda Lee Hempstead of New York, (Ret.) Sgt., Linda Ford of Columbia, Ga., Cynthia Madkins of Chesapeake; brother, Master Sgt. James W. Dixon Jr. of Dalzell, S.C.; paternal grandmother, Emma Dixon of Columbia, Md.; ex-father and ex-mother-in-law, Warren and Ethel Coppedge; 21 nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, close friends, and her church family.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Bishop Samuel Bess in Holy Trinity Church (NU)1. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The body will be placed in church at 1 p.m. The family will be at 1808 Richmond Ave., and will assemble there for the procession. Fisher Funeral Home in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
