WINNIFRED E. HOGGARD

Winnifred Estelle Hoggard, 93, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1996, in the Mountain View Nursing Home in Aroda.

She was born Dec. 2, 1902, in Kings Mountain, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Empro R. Putnum and Margaret Ann Uren Putnam and wife of the late Willie Earl Hoggard. She was a member of Sunnybrook Gospel Chapel in Criglersville.

She is survived by a daughter, Edna Hoggard Farant of Syria; five sons, Willie Earl Hoggard Jr., Ralph E. Hoggard, both of Portsmouth, Richard D. Hoggard of Syria, Jack E. Hoggard of Grove City, Ohio, Fred Hoggard of Portsmouth; a sister, Grace P. Simpson of Portsmouth; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald L. Hoggard; three brothers, William P. Puttnum, Harry Puttnum, George Puttnum; four sisters, Jessie L. Harold, Virginia Nunn, Margaret Mathias, and Viola Gardner.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Preddy Funeral Home in Madison by Mr. James Hasse, with a private interment in Etlan Cemetery.
