MIDSHIPMAN GETS 42 MONTHS IN JAIL ON DRUG CHARGES

A Naval Academy midshipman who pleaded guilty to drug charges in a court-martial Jan. 4 was sentenced Wednesday to 42 months in jail and dismissal from the Navy.

Senior class midshipman Jason Anthony Harloff, 22, also must give up all service benefits and pay. As part of a pre-trial agreement, however, a portion of his sentence could be suspended.

Harloff, of Fairport, N.Y., was the first to go to trial of 24 midshipmen arrested last fall for allegedly using marijuana and LSD.
