The Virginia Beach Division of Consumer Affairs and the Department of Public Utilities are warning consumers about individuals posing as City of Virginia Beach employees. It has been reported that impostors have visited residences claiming there is a problem with city water and requesting samples for testing. The men would not produce any identification and their true purpose is unknown at this time.
City water is safe; it meets or exceeds all federally mandated compliance standards. Public utilities employees do not solicit samples from residents, and all have proper identification.
If you have an questions or concerns about water quality in Virginia Beach, call the Public Utilities Laboratory at 427-7400. If you have been recently contacted by anyone requesting water samples, call the Virginia Beach Division of Consumer Affairs at 426-5836. by CNB
