Youths in our society have grown up hearing of war, violence and crime on the streets. They have become accustomed to the seemingly everlasting wars in far-off countries and struggles with their own nation as well. With the many problems in our world, one comparatively small one is quite distressing to me as a young American.
Congress cannot resolve how to balance the budget, so it withholds a continuing resolution for government workers. While Congress is busy arguing, its U.S. government workers are forced to stay home without pay. This is repulsive!
As an American, I find what Congress is doing definitely not at all reassuring for our future. While Congress is paid to argue, dedicated workers essential to the smooth running of our government are forced to stay home, and in some cases work without pay.
Our elected representatives are forgetting where they came from and the common workers they serve, and have closed their minds to suggestions from ``the other side.''
