Mildred V. Harris, 71, of the 1600 block of Darren Circle, died Jan. 16, 1996, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
Mrs. Harris, a native of New York, N.Y., was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Victory Congregation, Portsmouth.
Survivors include her husband, Henry M. Harris Sr.; four daughters, Joan Cartwright of Chesapeake, Cheryle Johnson and Lydia Fields, both of Portsmouth, Sharon Boykin of Piscataway, N.J.; four sons, Henry M. Harris Jr. of Valrico, Fla., Jemmott Harris of Chesapeake, Maurice A. Harris Sr. of Tampa, Fla., and Roderick T. Harris of Virginia Beach; her mother, Elsie Jemmott of Laurelton, N.Y.; a sister, Dorothy Gilkes of Laurelton; a brother, Alan S. Jemmott of Laurelton; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a maternal aunt, Janie Dias of East Elmhurst, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Elliott Avenue, Portsmouth, by Minister Charles Welch. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Sunday. Friends of the family are asked to assemble at the Kingdom Hall, Elliott Avenue, at 1:45 p.m. Monday for the funeral.
