Jimmy Lee Laxton, 46, of the 4200 block of Taylor Road, died Jan. 17, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Laxton, a heavy equipment operator, was a native of Mullins, W.Va. He was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine H. Smith; two daughters, Sissy Laxton and Marie Castelow, both of Gates County, N.C.; two sons, Jimmy Lee Laxton Jr. of Gates County and Richard Samuel Laxton of Chesapeake; four sisters, Darleen Burton of Portsmouth, Sandra Waycaster and Linda Terry, both of Flint, Mich., Mary Wise of Murfreesboro, N.C.; a brother, John F. Laxton of Chesapeake; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Sunday in Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Higway Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
